Antonio Galloni gives Lutum’s 2015 Wines rave reviews!

2015 Pinot Noir, Durell Vineyard -96 Points

“The 2015 Pinot Noir from Durell Vineyard is the most exotic and alluring wine in this range of pinots from Lutum. Super-ripe red cherry, hard candy, rose petal, lavender and raspberry build in a flamboyant, racy pinot endowed with pure pedigree and class. Vibrant, polished and breath taxingly beautiful, the Durell Pinot is a wine readers will not want to miss!”

2015 Chardonnay, Durell Vineyard – 93+ Points

“The chardonnay Durell is quite understated in this vintage. Usually much more overt, the 2015 has a weightless feel that is hugely appealing. Orange peel, savory herbs, mint and dried flowers give the wine its aromatic nuance, while the fruit lies more in the background. There is plenty to like here.”

2015 Pinot Noir, Gaps Crown Vineyard – 95 Points

“The 2015 Pinot Noir Gap’s Crown Vineyard is another magnificent wine from Gavin Chanin and Lutum. Here it is the interplay of ripe, racy fruit and savory overtones that is most compelling. Blood orange, sage, mint and cranberry give this wine its bright, high toned aromatics. Floral and herbal notes add the closing shades of nuance. What a gorgeous wine this is! The 2015 was done without any stems, but it has plenty of tannin still to shed.”

2015 Chardonnay, Gaps Crown Vineyard – 94 points

The 2015 Chardonnay Gap’s Crown Vineyard is bold and authoritative in style, with serious depth and phenolic intensity. Broad and ample on the palate, the Gap’s Crown has an almost pinot like sense of structure and breadth. Ripe orchard fruit, butter, smoke and apricot pit infuse this super -expressive, virile chardonnay from Lutum. This is a fabulous winner by any measure”

2015 Pinot Noir, Sanford & Benedict Vineyard – 96 Points

The first thing that jumps out about the 2015 Pinot Noir Sanford and Benedict Vineyard is its intensity of color, which is best described as a translucent purple. Rich and pliant yet also wonderfully light on its feet, the Sanford and Benedict is head-turner. The flavors are intense, but also remarkably pure, especially for a wine of this size. A rush of violet, lavender and mint punctuates the exuberant finish. If you can find it, don’t miss it.

2015 Chardonnay, Sanford and Benedict – 92 Points

A wine of restraint and inward focus, the 2015 Chardonnay Sanford and Benedict is going to need time in bottle to be at its best. Today, the 2015 is almost uncharacteristically reticent, although there is a plenty of energy.

2015  Pinot Noir,  La Rinconada Vineyard– 93 Points

The Pinot Noir La Rinconada Vineyard is a very pretty, restrained wine that showcases the purity of fruit from this famed Sta. Rita Hills site. Sweet red berry, orange peel, mint, rose petal and spice notes give the wine its distinctive aromatic signatures. This is a very pretty, feminine Pinot from Gavin Chanin.
